Media in Dubai

Dubai is the hub of media and entertainment. They have approximately 8 radio channels in which the first talk radio station in the Middle East, Dubai Eye 103.8. Dubai-based FM radio stations such as Dubai FM (93.9), Dubai92 (92.0), Al Khaleejia (100.9) and Hit FM (96.7) provide programming in English, Arabic and South Asian languages. All these channels are purely meant for entertainment but simultaneously religious broadcasting is also being done on it. Radio is said to be one of the most powerful tool that a nation can have and dubai has it.

There are many channels operated in Dubai out of which this radio channel ‘4 fm’ had grasped all the attention and then later in 1997 became the national channel of the state. On cable and satellite too there are many channels operated in which APTN, Bloomberg L.P. and Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC) as well as network news channels operate in Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City.  These channels are like the heart beat of the nation. They are something people cannot resist watching.

Many local operated channels are also there like Dubai One (formerly Channel 33), and Dubai TV (EDTV) provide programming in English and Arabic respectively. These channels mostly broadcast good quality work which is on the local listings too. Media being discussed how can news be let behind. The news papers of Dubai like Al Khaleej, Al Bayan and Al Ittihad are the city's largest circulating Arabic language newspapers, while Gulf News and Khaleej Times are the largest circulating English newspapers in town.

The internet being a powerful tool is mostly been used more destructively than constructively and the company “Etisalat” filters all the unwanted contents like dating, nude or sexual web cam chat and all the prohibited sites that deems the state’s imaged are censored and also the proxy sites which allows to crack these kinds of restrictions. Dubai has grown more constructively than destructively which is indeed a good beginning because like Dubai there’s definitely more coming up.
